About Course

You've probably dreamed of playing blues guitar but never quite known where to begin. Maybe you already know some chords or play other styles, yet traditional blues still feels just out of reach.

This course walks you through the process one step at a time. You'll begin with the rhythmic foundations that define the blues - quarter notes, eighth notes, rests, straight feel, and swing feel. These rhythms are practiced slowly using clear on-screen notation, along with jam tracks at three different tempos, plus a stripped-down drum and bass backing.

From there, you'll dive into chords in a variety of keys. You'll work with open chords, barre chords, movable shapes, and power chords, all within authentic blues progressions. Practicing across multiple keys using different rhythms and strumming approaches builds the flexibility essential for any serious blues guitarist. By blending chords, riffs, and rhythm, you'll quickly progress from isolated exercises to playing full 12-bar blues progressions and complete songs.

By the end of the course, you'll be able to play two classic blues tunes - "I'm Torn Down" by Freddie King and "Evil" by Howlin' Wolf - start to finish, supported by jam tracks throughout.

Whether you're a complete beginner, coming from another genre, or already familiar with basic chords, this course equips you with the rhythms, chord vocabulary, and techniques needed to play authentic blues all over the neck.
