About Course

Join instructors Doug Boduch, Tom Kolb, and Troy Stetina for a fun, informative guitar video course introducing you to nine guitar techniques and concepts that can elevate your playing to a new tier. If you've got a decent grasp on playing some lead lines, barre chords, and strumming patterns, you're probably ready to widen the aperture a bit and try out some new ideas. This course allows you to do just that while learning some great riffs, licks, and phrases.

First, you'll learn about harmonics of all types (natural, pinch, artificial, etc.) and how to use them to add a new dimension to your playing. Then you'll discover one of the most useful right-hand techniques of all, hybrid picking, which involves using both your pick and your fingers to pluck the strings. This allows you to achieve a piano-like attack with chords (with all notes struck simultaneously) and provides an alternative to picking lead phrases in which using the pick alone would feel awkward and/or difficult

Next, you'll begin to explore the world of slide guitar and see and hear the incredible opportunities for expression it affords. This is followed by a look at Bigsby vibrato bar techniques commonly heard in rockabilly, rock, and more, which can lend a host of musical touches to help bring out a particular note, chord, or phrase.

Other topics include building speed (exercises designed to help you improve your speed and accuracy), economy picking (another picking method used for achieving high-speed runs), sweep picking (economy picking taken to the extreme, making blazing through arpeggios a breeze when compared to alternate picking), two-handed tapping (from the basics to licks and tricks combining bends, slides, and more), and whammy bar tricks (from subtle and musical to wild and zany).

You can't help but improve with these lessons, and you'll have a blast learning new skills at the same time. Step into another world of expression on the guitar!
